Common questions

Things folks ask before their first cord.

Buying firewood shouldn’t feel like a used car lot. Here’s the short version.

What actually is a 'cord' of firewood?

A full cord is a tight stack measuring 4 ft × 4 ft × 8 ft (128 cubic feet). A 'face cord' or 'rick' is one-third of that — 4 ft × 8 ft × 16 in. If a seller quotes 'truckload,' ask for dimensions. I'll flag any listing that doesn't disclose.

Seasoned vs. kiln-dried — does it matter?

Seasoned hardwood that has cured for 12+ months under cover burns clean and hot. Kiln-dried wood is faster to season and consistent, but costs more. For everyday burning, well-seasoned is usually all you need — just verify moisture is below 20%.

How is this free for me?

Buyers never pay a fee. Sellers can list for free; Pro and Premium tiers (paid) get the lead-routing estimator and exclusive ZIP coverage. Travis funds the platform; the rest is honest direct booking.

Do you deliver, or just connect?

We connect — every order is direct between you and the seller. Many sellers within 75 miles offer delivery for full cords and bulk loads; smaller pickups are usually pickup-only. The seller profile shows their delivery radius.

If your area isn’t on the list

Don’t see a seller near you?

New sellers join every week — and if I find buyers in an unclaimed market, I’ll personally reach out to local firewood operators to bring them on.
